The Safety and Efficacy of Golden Lite Dietary Supplement

Study Type: A 12-week prospective, randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled trial on the safety and efficacy of Golden Lite dietary supplement for hypercholesterolemic patients with moderate to severe obesity.

Objectives: A dietary supplement containing concentrated plant extracts and a custom blend of rice bran, chicory, mesquite powder, cocoa butter, lecithin, and vanilla was studied to determine its safety and efficacy on BMI (body mass index), weight, fat loss, and cholesterol and triglycerides levels. Total body weight, body fat percentage, waist and hip measurements, and total cholesterol and triglycerides were evaluated before and after 6 weeks of treatment with this unique dietary combination supplement and a placebo.

Materials and methods: 60 mildly to moderately obese subjects underwent randomization and were divided into two groups, each with 30 people. Group A received the active investigational product (Golden Lite dietary supplement) and Group B received a placebo with a non-active recipient. Patients were screened to meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria for this study. The duration of the trial will be 6 weeks. Group A will receive the dietary supplement Golden Lite and Group B will receive a placebo.  Both the participants and clinical investigators were double-blinded.  Blood samples were collected before the study and 12 weeks after the conclusion of the trial. Plasma lipids, LDL oxidative susceptibility, and urinary oxidative stress markers were measured from the blood samples.

Conclusion: The dietary supplement had a statistically significant (p<0.001, mu=0.05) positive weight-reducing effect (-8.59 pounds vs. +2.14 pounds). This weight reduction was associated with a corresponding statistically significant (p<0.001, mu=0.05) decrease in body fat percentage in the treatment group (-2.88%) vs. the placebo (+0.86%) group. In addition, significant decreases in total cholesterol (-26 to -30 mg/dL) and triglycerides (-39 to -45 mg/dL) were obtained as well as reductions in waist and hip measurements. These positive results lead us to conclude that the dietary supplement Golden Lite will be a safe and effective way to assist in weight/fat reduction and decreases in total cholesterol and triglycerides levels in a relatively short time.
