Native Americans from South Carolina to Florida and the Caribbean were long aware of the benefits of the berries of the dwarf palm saw palmetto (Serenoa repens) for male-related health problems involving the prostate, impotence, and infertility. The berry was also traditionally used for cystitis, stomach aches, irritated throat, asthma, and other health issues. More recently, it has been shown in medical studies worldwide that the oil pressed from this berry helps improve male prostate conditions; new studies are focusing on urinary conditions in both men and women.
The walnut-sized prostate gland is located below the bladder. In clinical trials, saw palmetto oil has been found helpful for alleviating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH, enlargement of the prostate) and for various urinary tract water retention infections and inflammatory problems. It has been shown to relieve the pain and reduce the frequent urination associated with these conditions.
Our saw palmetto oil is virgin pressed directly from the best of select, wild-crafted ripe berry fruit (separating fruit and seed) which contains a greater spectrum of potent properties than found with other oil extraction methods. Not only is the oil pure, that is, unadulterated, but it also keeps better. It is combined with a virgin grade of organic Tunisian olive oil.
Olives are well-known throughout southern Europe and North Africa. Olive oil is a good complement to saw palmetto oil; it improves its viscosity. Both oils also have a long history of use going back thousands of years for their anti-inflammatory benefits to the body. Saw palmetto oil is especially rich in anti-inflammatory fatty acids (approximately 92.5%) including Oleic (148mg), Lauric (45.5mg), Palmitic (31.4mg), Myristic (24.5mg), stearic (5mg), and Caprylic (3mg) fatty acids. The viscous liquid is high in carotenoids and phospholipids and contains zinc.
